I’ve been running behind setting up a new IT company in Dubai since the last two months. The first step, as usual, while doing business in Dubai, is to find a good sponsor. I found one in my friend Yousef, who is also a very good photographer. Then the next step was renting an office. With Yousef’s help I soon got a 600 sq.ft. office for less than 25k in the international city. Thanks to some blunders by the real estate agent who arranged the office space, I had the tenacy contract written in my relative’s name, who had helped me with the cheques. I again went to the agent to correct it. He collected all details and told me that I’d get it in two days time. After a week and still no contract, I find that the owner is in UK!!
Meanwhile, the old tenancy contract is lost. The agent advises me to get a certificate from the Police. I am bugged again. thanks to Yousef, after a week, the police certificate is in my hand. Now when I call up the landlord, I am to find that the person whom I was talking to was never the actual ‘owner’. At last I get to meet the original owners, two young entrepreneurs. They tell me that it was only the previous day the agent called them regarding the new tenancy contract. At l I get the new contract! I’m beaming with joy!
Next I get to know from Yousef that I need to get an NOC from Nakheel for the license, since the office is in the International City. As usual, I’m bugged again. I need to get some papaers signed from the owners again. Two days pass. The papers are ready with me. I get Nakheel’s NOC. At last, i thought that everything was through.
Next day, I hear that my license application is stuck up in DED because of some ‘Software migration’. Screwed again. One week pass. I coem to know that my application is stuck up because some other company under my friend’d sponsorship has screwed up.
Now, it’s two months since I have come to Dubai. I have lost hell lot of a time. Yousef has assured my that he’ll sort everything by tomorrow. So, here I am…frustrated and tired.. Hope July will be good for me!
